2010 CBF Joseph Vacation Bible School Report
Chicago CBF had a Joseph Vacation Bible School during June 21-25, 2010 with 52 students, including part-time attendees. God blessed this Bible school so much, planting his word in young CBF children through willing, wholehearted, and trained young high school students.
God blessed us through the many prayers of God’s servants. Every Sunday, Pastor Ron included the CBF Bible School as a prayer topic. Many prayed for the Bible school at the early morning prayer meeting, CBF fellowship meeting, and website meeting. M. Isaac Choi prayed with Tim McEathron every Sunday.
In preparation, M. Birgit Pierce and Tim prepared questions and even crosswords. M. Deborah Lim prepared coloring pictures of Joseph standing up high with his brothers bowing down to him and his two dreams on top.
M. Birgit served the Bible school teachers with testimony sharing time in the morning with breakfast and daily group Bible study after lunch. M. Birgit had all the Bible teachers and messengers to write and share testimonies. I also heard that the CBF children in each class shared testimonies without missing. There was a great work of God among us. Praise God!
There were five fresh young messengers from among high school students, mostly CBF alumni. They were John Mederich (1-Ge 37), Peter Albright (2-Ge 39), David Cho (3-Ge 40-41), Mary Lee (Ge 42-44), and Hannah Rarick (5-Ge 45-50). They had personal Bible studies, wrote their testimonies, and prepared messages and revised them again and again. Each of them delivered wonderful messages. There were also assistant teachers for each of the group Bible studies â€" Michelle Li, Michelle Melzer, Mary Choi, and Sarah Sohn. This training of the teachers was an essential focus of the Bible school.
Tim prepared the environment by providing whatever was needed: the Disciples’ Chorus sang every day before the message, he set the tables with water bottles and plates, etc. Five missionaries prepared lunch for 70 people, both students and teachers. Some of them served food out of their own means. Those who prepared lunch were M. Joy King, Sarah Yu, M. Faith Grady, Sara Miller, and M. Theresa Ahn.
We learned about God’s sovereignty and his redemptive purpose for Joseph and for each person’s life, even in hardships, to save many lives. We learned that spiritual training is good in order to repent before God and be useful for his redemptive history. We learned that spiritual babies cannot carry any burdens or important responsibilities; only those who are trained spiritually can carry the tremendous work of God in any generation. May God raise our CBF children to be used by God greatly to carry out his redemptive purpose in their own generation.
