Dear Chicagoland and nearby UBF chapters,

We are excited to host a special Seminar next month based on the book A Praying Life: Connecting with God in a Distracting World. We believe it has broad appeal to people at every life stage who want to really grow in the life of prayer, from college students to seniors.

Pastor Will Peycke with seeJesus ministries will be leading us on Friday May 16, 6:00 – 9:15 PM, and Saturday May 17, 1:00 – 5:00 PM at our Chicago UBF church. (I had a good conversation with Pastor Will on the phone today and will be speaking with him again next week.) On each day of the Seminar the session has two parts, with a break in between. See the attached poster for more information. And check out their website at seejesus.net. Click on “Events,” and you will find the link to register for the Seminar.

If anyone would like to join this Seminar, we highly recommend reading the book in advance, as soon as possible, available in hard copy, and on Kindle and Audible. Our Chicago UBF pastoral team and leaders are reading the book together and discussing it weekly. We’ve already halfway through the book and have been finding it so inspiring, encouraging, and practically helpful.

The Seminar is open to the public, but advanced registration is required at the seeJesus website ($20/person)–[people need to register directly with them, not with UBF.] Paying the fee guarantees receiving a seminar Participant’s Manual and prayer cards when you arrive (and this ore-registration lets them know how many Manuals and prayer cards to bring.) The seeJesus staff will bring a print out of the names of people who have pre-registered and check people in at the door. (We have discount codes available, so let me know if you have people who seriously want to attend but really can’t afford the fee.)

Feel free to share this news with your chapter members, if you and they are interested. We warmly welcome you. We are also exploring the formation of prayer cohorts with interested members after the Seminar, to encourage one another to keep on learning and growing in our prayer lives, learning to put these Biblical teachings on prayer into practice. These cohorts could be formed within chapters or across chapters, depending on interest level, etc. Based on your input, the seeJesus ministry staff can train any
of our key members to lead a cohort. Email me with any questions you may have about this possibility of post-Seminar cohorts.

May God newly inspire us all to grow, wherever we’re at in life, as praying people and a praying church who pray with child-like faith. And may we newly experience our gracious Father God, his hand at work, and his real answers to our honest prayers.

May God especially hear our fervent prayers for our Midwest/Missouri Valley Summer Bible Conference with the title, “Follow Me.”

In His grace,

Mark Vucekovich
