By G*race Min (Chicago UBF)

A*linne and I, as part of the UBF media team, have been visiting different campuses to interview the messengers in preparation for the Easter Conference.

From March 5 – 6, 2022,  L*ittle Sarah, A*linne, D*enise, and I drove to Indianapolis and were warmly welcomed by the Indianapolis UBF chapter. We enjoyed getting to know the house church: D*avid and J*oy Kim, J*oshua and S*arah Lee.

D*avid and J*oy open their house for  Sunday Worship service every week in a small designated worship area on the top floor. Somehow, we all managed to fit in the space. Altogether, I believe there were around 16 attendants, including us four. I was amazed by the warm, tight-knit family established in Christ. All 12 congregants were part of the praise & worship team. I say this because even though J*oshua was the only one officially leading the worship with his voice and guitar, everyone was singing confidently: they were all part of the band, worshiping the Lord. I was quite amazed when I heard people adding in beautiful harmonies. It sounded like a spirit-filled heavenly choir.

D*avid gave a message on 1 Samuel – when the Lord calls Samuel. Through his message, God spoke hope to me – amidst such corruption even among the leaders of the temple, God called Samuel. Everyone served and offered their 5 loaves and 2 fish to God – as a prayer servant, passage reader, messenger, presider, through special songs, etc. All the men faithfully prepare a special song every week as do the women. Alinne and I also shared our life testimonies.

Afterwards, we enjoyed snacks while getting to know each other and played ping pong. Alinne and I interviewed C*urtis, one of the messengers for the conference (you can watch his video below or on the Chicago UBF YouTube Channel).

Although it is small, Indianapolis UBF is truly a family established in Christ. They even call each other “brothers and sisters,” and they call us “Chicago sisters.” I can testify that they are united by their love for God, and they are so full of joy. They are actively carrying out the great commission. All 6 young men were fished and have been faithfully attending and leading Bible studies and worship.

D*avid and J*oy go on campus and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ, inviting students to Bible studies, at least once a week. They took us to IUPUI campus, and we joined them in God’s kingdom work. We went two by two. J*oy boldly approached students but was quickly stopped by security. But, she only said “next time, we will go to the library instead.” They do not give up, but faithfully live according to God’s mission and command.  It was amazing to see God’s presence so alive and active there. Pray for C*urtis Rodriguez as he will deliver the message on Jesus’ crucifixion: “Father, Forgive Them.”
