October United Friday Meeting

For our monthly United Friday Meeting, we met on Friday, November 3rd. There were testimonies by campus representatives and church-wide ministries. 8 people shared testimonies and 2 mission reports were given.

Key Verse topics from testimonies shared:

Deborah- Learn to hold onto God’s word and it will set you free.

Annie- Struggled a bit with managing time and serving ministry but after God answered one of her prayers she found strength in God and felt motivated to continue serving. Through this experience, she learned how much God can do through her.

Sammy- When Jesus healed the blind he healed both his physical and spiritual eyes. He prays to continue to struggle as a blind beggar.

Luke- After surrendering to Christ he became renewed and his thoughts and ambitions have changed to align with the will of God. Now he sees life with new eyes.

Jason- He confessed that he sometimes can be spiritually blind and forget what God has done for him. Sometimes he does not pray for weeks because of self-righteousness, but through this passage, he is reminded to come back to God.

Grace- From this passage she learned the importance of knowing your idols and temptations because they can sneak up on you and these are the things that can hinder you from Jesus. Through daily bread, she found encouragement and was convicted by the word of God to continue studying and dwelling on the word.

Rafael- He is learning to continue to grow in humility and his walk with Jesus. He confessed that the only source of life for him is Christ, and to have Jesus at the throne of his heart.

Bahati- She learned what it means to deny herself and her family for Christ as she was moved by how Christ already gave up everything and died for her.

Overview of Mission Reports:

Jim R. started the meeting with his Boston visiting report. He and his wife, Dr. Helen visited Boston UBF, representing North American Elders, from October 14-16. They expressed how blessed and loved they felt by the community there. Jim shared a message based on 1 John 4:10 titled “In This is Love”,

“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”

Dr. Helen shared her life testimony and an insightful lecture on Creation/Evolution entitled “By Design Or By Chance?”. Boston UBF prays for a full-time pastor to serve their ministry and to raise many disciples among students in Boston.

Msn. Maria A. gave a beautiful report on her and Msn. Jose A.’s short-term mission trip to Antigua, Guatemala, from October 18- November 1.  At the beginning of the trip, they experienced some difficulties when traveling due to protests going on throughout the country. But after meeting and having fellowship with some UBF members they felt both encouraged and comforted. Their key verse for this trip was Joshua 17:18

“but the forested hill country as well. Clear it, and its farthest limits will be yours; though the Canaanites have chariots fitted with iron, and though they are strong, you can drive them out.”
