Philippians Study: Having a Real Relationship with Jesus
Part One: A New Purpose (Chapter 1)
Lesson 2: Philippians 1:12–26 (Go to ESV Bible Verses)
- Read the passage carefully several times.
- What does Paul say about his imprisonment (12–14)? About those proclaiming Christ in his absence (15–18)? What is his cause for rejoicing (19–20)?
- Writing from prison, what does Paul confess (21)? He means Christ is the source, content, and goal of his life. How could he live like this? How does his view change how you see your life right now? How can you align your life with such faith in Christ?
- Based on his confession, how does Paul describe his two options now (22–24)? What does he conclude (25–26)? How does his resolution redefine a “real relationship” with Jesus, compared with how the world views a successful life?
- Based on this study, what specific things will you do this week to live more for Christ?
