Operation Christmas Child

Hosted by Jason & Theo, Samaritan’s Purse: Operation Christmas Child is a Christian organization that collects shoe boxes filled with quality gifts sent around the world to kids in need. They have been delivering shoebox gifts to children around the world since 1993.

Along with sending a shoebox they also preach the gospel to the young children. The children will be invited to church, receive their shoebox gift, and be invited to a discipleship program to learn about Jesus! You can fill a box according to gender and also write a letter to the child in whatever language you prefer and they will translate it.

Through our church there are 2 ways to help (1) Fill a shoe box with gifts and supplies for one child and a $10 donation, this donation will go into the shipping fee. You can use your own shoe boxes or in the church basement, you can find a table set up with information cards and empty boxes to fill up! (2) Sign up to welcome people bringing boxes to UBF from Nov. 13-20 for National Collection Week. Chicago UBF will be a designated location to collect boxes.  The schedule for National Collection Week is as follows: Mon-Fri, 3:30-6 pm, Sat 10-12, Sun 3-6, and the last Monday 11-1. People around the Chicago area will come and drop off their boxes, and there is a projection of about 800 boxes to be dropped off. We need volunteers to welcome these people, thank them, and pray with them. There are 4 main roles to volunteer for; greeter, host, unloader, and cartonizer.
